Originally from Milton Keynes, England, Amy Maghera is a TV and film actress based in LA. Her most recent work includes the Netflix film SKATER GIRL, in which she plays a bilingual lead role and the award winning comedy feature, PRETTY PROBLEMS currently streaming on Hulu. She has recently been selected by BAFTA to be part of the BAFTA Los Angeles Newcomers Programme; an initiative that recognises and supports international, rising talent who have moved to the United States.

Amy’s avenue into film was a lead role in the critically acclaimed, female-centric feature, ANGRY INDIAN GODDESSES, directed by Pan Nalin . The film won The BNL People’s Choice Award at Rome International Film Festival, The Audience Award at Inside Out Toronto LGBT film festival and first runner up at the Grolsch People’s Choice Awards at Toronto International Film Festival.

She is also best known for playing series regular, Neeta Kaur on the British Soap Opera HOLLYOAKS, where her story line was nominated at the Inside Soap Magazine Awards for best show stopper.

Amy comes from a diverse, multi cultural back ground, which inspired her to travel to India early on in her career. She became a brand ambassador of LAKME; India’s top make up and skin care brand, which led to her working with the country’s elite photographers, tv commercial directors and fashion designers on high budget TV and magazine campaigns. This prompted a slew of other opportunities such as acting with the likes of Akshay Kumar in National TV commercials and starring in films. You can catch her on Amazon Prime, playing the female lead in the award winning comedy GOREYAN NU DAFFA KARO opposite Amrinder Gill.

With performing in her blood; Amy’s Father is a Scottish and English folk musician and her Mother, an art teacher, she knew from a young age that she would follow her creative passions, giving rise to a unique and diverse body of work in TV and Film, in England, India and now America.
